UNAWARE OF ALTERNATIVE SAFETY PLANS, SOME CPS PARENTS CHOOSE TO KEEP POLICE IN SCHOOLS

In this feature piece, I write about parents who are against #CopsOutCPS because they worry about the safety of their own children. But is Chicago Public Schools being transparent about what other alternative safety plans exist and do parents know about them?

NORTHSIDE COLLEGE PREP'S LSC IS THE FIRST IN CPS TO VOTE POLICE OUT OF SCHOOL: "THE FIGHT ISN'T OVER" 

After the Board of Education voted 4-3 in June in favor of keeping police officers school, the Local School Council at Northside College Prep voted to remove them instead. It was the first of 17 schools to decide on removing #CopsOutCPS.

The Chicago Public Schools Board of Education voted 4-3 on June 24 in favor of keeping police officers in schools despite student outcry for their removal.
